I looking forward very much to the basics underlying the "basic patterns" I learned as basics. In some ways it feels as if WCS is taught the other way round in most dancing schools. First simple patterns, then more complex patterns, only then skills around connection and musicality etc. I have been taught about the 32 beat phrase only after about 9 months of courses – but in a sense it is where the dance starts. Same about things like stretch – the real work on stretch only begins once you have ingrained all kinds of wrong habits
I have been competitive in almost everything else I do, and I am getting curious how I can be, and remain, motivated in skill building, withundefinedwithout the intention to compete. I'm feeling deeper into 'what's my passion?', rather than 'when is the competition?'
It is interesting how things change. Being flexible means open to all possibilities. I never thought I would like dancing with one person so much. Before covid it was about dancing with lots of different ppl as it is fun connecting with everyone! I love having a regular dance partner now as I can explore dance in a much different way as I get to know the nuances of their dance. Also Iove slow dancing now. Never used to. After the elasticity challenge even more so. I wonder what will excite me about WCS next…we'll see……
