"Posture" – "Stacking ribs over hips" – "A to V frame" – "Flex your lats" It's like you were detailing everything I was taught! No wonder I have issues. Time to change !!
I never understood pitch until now. This was very helpful. The stairs walking drill, the broom exercise etc. If it is ok to have the bum stick a bit out, things suddenly become much easier
This was brand new to me when I started with the first Bootcamp back in April and I had certainly heard everything about "engaging your lats" and all the other isolated ideas that you document in these units but I had never seen it all carefully put together and explained so well. I am still reviewing and having to think carefully about my posture and pitch and other body FMS but it is less alien the 2nd time around than it was.
… i am very agro … lol.. im so upset i didn't know this sooner….. my heart kinda hurts not to mention the embarrassment i feel. * sigh * i am so happy i know this now, i am going to work on these things. i know i have to be gentle with past me but its sooo hard…. I knew about most of this but for whatever reason it just now clicked…
I LOVED this section!! I have to take a deep breath and tell myself I know this now , so i can move forward and be the dancer i want to be becuase i have more tools, and i can apply them with practice. #icandothething
I really liked the simple contra-body explanation. I'd been getting it mixed up, but as soon as you gave me the rule 'whichever leg is in front, regardless of your direction of travel' I found I could apply the idea at any time.
The posture and pitch drills were eye opening for me. I realized as I’ve worked to correct my head position, I was changing my pitch (not for the better). These drills helped me find what I think is a more correct posture and pitch. Such “simple” things I’m realizing I have not fully understood.
Wait. The A/V drill is old method?? Lats aren't your primary thing to engage for frame?? I am having light bulb after light bulb…so glad we went through this stuff first!!
The fact that in pitch your hips go back simultaneously to counter your shoulders going forward… OH. Don't know why I didn't realize that before! And EVERYTHING contrabody, but most especially how it can be used as a tool within the patterns as well as to make your dancing look less robotic in general. I just went back and watched some videos from when I first started WCS. I always knew I looked awkward then, but I didn't know why. Now it is painfully obvious… I'm in a V frame the whole dang time. I suppose it was my attempt at connection… so many breakthroughs for me in this unit.
I know you left this comment a long time ago but it really rings true for me too. I was leaning back to try and do the connection and end of slot and it was sooooo unnecessary lol.
I began learning WCS in the early 90's—and many of the old school techniques did not serve me. Stacking Ribs over Hips and Engage the Lats—led to immobility in the ribs causing me to spin as a block unit rather than spiral. Fortunately, a fellow dancer when I moved here to Tampa was a Feldenkrais practitioner and freed my ribs—-a whole new torso feel and breathing capability. The other non-ergonomic outcome of those practices as well as the Squaring Up at the end of slot and the instruction to get my headweight over my heels, caused me to us my arm to pull myself forward as there was definitely a STOP at the end of the slot rather than a fluid almost figure eight feeling redirection. So happy for the changes and looking forward to understanding them more and being more consistent.
Just thinking about good posture & pitch during dancing makes me feel like a better dancer. It also give me things to think about getting right when going through simple patterns that I already know. So it's super helpful.

so much great info here ,,,, not only completely new tech and tips but improvement or a different prospective of things I've already been working on… awesome !!
Loved the pitch section. I was definitely doing it wrong, in the sense that I would sit back more, and also too much, Only doing it 2-5 degrees or so made SUCH a big difference in my dance. I was either doing it not at all, or too much. Best section for me.
The broom on the back video definitely helps a lot!

Good reminder of the contrabody. Pitch was a new thing for me and that will be interesting to explore. Great videos to exoplane this.
I didn't understand pitch until now .. this was very very helpful
Thank you!!!
I'll keep in mind now to keep the posture and pitch when I'm dancing!!! Super important

On the body positioning graphic you have 'mobile neck', do you have any drills for improving that?
