I really like the visual that the video game video presented, of how an idea, in our case WCS, can be presented with a "tutorial", then some "play", then more "tutorial", then more "play", as the person is able to absorb the content and put it into tangible activity.
When I started, actually learning this dance, I got amazing information, very fast, and I noticed over time when concepts that were presented to me early on were actually sinking in. It wasn't my teacher's fault. I was asking for their help. It was me, as a newbie rushing the time line, as I had one month to know all I needed to know to compete in my first convention… 4 weeks away. (I did get my first points, in the newcomer division!
After seeing this gaming video, in this lesson, I can truly see the value of the staggard learning angle. It provides the core skills, and fun of experiencing the activity at the same time, so the learner can have more, effective, experiences, sooner!
I am excited to learn to teach WCS in this format, and help new Westies become their Westie Addict Self ASAP! (Like I did!)
